Description
Scotish Highlands; is home to beautiful herds of Red Deer. This Red Stag stands watch over his domain, bellowing at the three soaring Golden Eagles in the sky....!!!! I have based this painting on a favorite artist of mine, ' Archibald Thorburn' and his scenes of the highlands in Scotland, where he spent many - many hours painting & watching the wildlife,
Archibald Thorburn (31 May 1860 - 9 October 1935 Hascombe, Surrey) was a Scottish artist and bird illustrator, painting mostly in watercolour. He regularly visited Scotland to sketch birds in the wild, his favourite haunt being the Forest of Gaick near Kingussie in Invernesshire. His widely reproduced images of British wildlife, with their evocative and dramatic backgrounds
Scotland occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain, it shares a border with England to the south and is bounded by the North Sea to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and the North Channel and Irish Sea to the southwest. In addition to the mainland, Scotland constitutes over 790 islands including the Northern Isles and the Hebrides.
