Description
Black Plague; This is a photograph of my Installation that I did at University......These Cardboard (cut-out) Rats, were a Metapgor for the Plague.....They were hung from a circular 'rotating' hoop with a single light bulb in the centre, this was to reflect the 'moving' shadows of the Rats onto the walls (so there apperared - more rats than there actually was) There is more to the story, But in general - It was based on the childrens (nursery rhyme) Ring-a -Ring of Roses, about most of the population dying of the disease - The Black Plague (passed onto humans by infested ticks) in the 1600s. All the rats were drawn and cut-out by hand.....For my full project at Uni I cut-out more than 150 rats in different poses and size (no-two were the same) The installation was inside a very dark room...which added to its Drama.!!!
