Ludlow Castle......1st position win in Best acrylics, watercolor and Oil contest! 2012...................
Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, Ludlow Castle was held by the Crown, except for a brief time during the Civil War and the Commonwealth. It enjoyed great status as the centre of administration for the Marches shires for Wales - court sessions and the Prince's Council were held here. This led to massive refurbishment of the buildings and the castle became styled more in the way of an Elizabethan stately home.
Ludlow Castle is a partly ruined uninhabited medieval building in the town of the same name in the English county of Shropshire. It stands on a high point overlooking the River Teme and in the Middle Ages it was an important strategic stronghold for control of the Welsh Borders, and at times the seat of English government in Wales. The castle was probably founded by Walter de Lacy in the late 11th century. Possession of Ludlow Castle descended through the La...
Hi my name is Jean; I am a self-taught artist who works from my studio at home, in oil paint on canvas, My main subjects being Landscapes and Seascapes. I have recently undertaken portraiture, of which I am thoroughly enjoying and a new and challenging area for myself. I also have an extremely keen interest in Photography and I often paint from my collection of pictures, they prove an invaluable source of reference on wet and windy days when it is impossible or impractical to paint al-fresco. In 2002 i decided to expand my vocabulary in art by enrolling into Lichfield & Tamworth College for a 2-year Art course to obtain my A-Level. In 2004 I was accepted into Wolverhampton University, graduating in 2007 with a B.A (hons) in Fine Art...

Hello Jean, just saw this going by in my art stream and saw that it had won a prize, so apart from the fact that I was inquisitive about that ! (congratulations by the way and much deserved), it also jogged my memory that I was coming back anyway!! I LOVE this work Jean. All that mist is wonderfully realistic, thick, all pervading and mysterious. I also love your beautiful sombre colours. They completely sober me up from a vision I've toying with of a bright red flamingo!!! The light is gorgeous here too as it breaks through the clouds and lights that dreamy looking castle. Great work! v/f

Jean, I really admire what a clear voice you have as an artist. Sometimes you talk with light, but this one is the sharp and blur. Very nice. v/f
